C 1775 Robert Chamberlain first period Worcester hand painted coffee can in the "Royal Lily" pattern. The cup stands 6.5 cm tall and 8.5 cm from edge of cup to outer edge of handle. This extremely rare piece is hand painted in exquisite detail using cobalt blue and rust with copious gilded highlights. The workmanship is typical of the very best from England's pre-eminent craftspeople. In perfect original antique condition with no chips, cracks, repairs or restoration that I can identify, the colours and gilding remain vibrant and bright.
There are kiln firing marks on the base, absolutely typical of the completely manual processes of 235 years ago. There are no factory marks on the piece, only a hand written painters mark.
