Rare All Original Oil Can Finish Scotty Cameron Pre-titleist Classic I Putter

The Classic I/1 is Scottys precursor to the Newport model that he created for Titleist. This beauty is in exceptional shape for a putter of its age.

It has its original straight, non-fluted or stepped, shaft with Scotty Cameon care sticker. The head is in excellent shape where its finish appears to have been Scottys Oil Can finish. It does not appear to have had the brilliant black oxide finish. Dont see a non-black oxide finish on many of the Classic Is. As you flip through the pictures, check out the close ups of the cavity, flange and bumpers , as well as the face. They are all smooth and almost clear of any blemishes or pitting. Something you would normally start seeing on an oil can finish this old. It has the original Danny Edwards grip with a lot of life left in it.

It does however have a scrape in it near the top and to the side, but this does not effect feel or play of the putter. The Classic 1 model was the first of the Classic Series produced by Cameron Golf International in 1993. Scotty took an ageless design and refined it. The angles, rounded the topline, and used soft carbon steel for exceptional feel. The specs of the Classics were 3°, 72° lie, 34.5 in length with a.

Cameron Golf International was on its way. The Classic 1 was produced until Cameron partnered with Titleist in late 1994 and was then renamed the Newport model for the Titleist line.

The original Classic 1 was milled entirely from a block of carbon steel and finished in a brilliant black oxide finish. There was no mistaking the quality and craftsmanship of a Cameron putter. The angles were softer and more flowing, the topline had a slight radius for better alignment, and because each putter is entirely machined, the level of consistency could not be duplicated.
